PLATFORM TOPSIDES ROLLING-ON HAS BEEN COMPLETED

    One of the most difficult part of marine ice resistant fixed platform (MISP) «Prirazlomnaya» building has been completed in water area of the enterprise: topsides are installed on caisson.
     Topsides rolling-on operation took four days, but preparation lasted for nearly two months. At the beginning platform caisson was placed on the bay bottom and then massive auxiliary module was transferred on the deck from special barge. It is a structural part of the platform and is placed on its foundation first of all. Later topside was moved from quay to caisson and they were moored. Now the second step of this operation has been completed – topsides rolling-on. Barges of high carrying capacity were used for it. By means of trailers made of 100 trolleys, 2 pontoons and 2 barges topsides were rolled from barges on «Prirazlomnaya» caisson. The next step is exact topside positioning relative to caisson and mounting on caisson standard equipment. After it barges will be disconnected and shipment and mounting of equipment will take place on the platform. On completion of this work emersion of mated structure will occur and then platform will be again moved to the quay, where its outfitting will be completed.
     A great number of people were involved in the most difficult operation under the leadership of Sevmash marine engineering and civil shipbuilding division: builders of Division No.2, CDB designers, NTU production engineers, test department specialists, water transport shop ship crews, heads, technical and engineering employees and stockpile shops workers, hydraulic engineers, all in all over two hundred people.
